I get lifted!

I've seen similar shoes on the blogs, but these are cute and affordable. Cute with skinny jeans (yes I bought my first pair reluctantly...at least they are Levi's) or a mini-ish skirt and tights (yes tights are in again). I have these in my Favorites in Zappos where I've cleverly given my husband the password. Let's hope he smells the hint and plays Santa pour moi!

Red HOT!

A little bit of Red...Colors are so much fun right now. Kim concurs that Yellow is Spring's must have color. Red is NOW and very winter. This is a very fun coat from a new cost-concious site called http://www.plasticlandclothing.com/.

Our lives have changed forever!

We just got DVR from Comcast. Now I can watch all of my missing shows like Ugly Betty, The Office, My Name Is Early, and very CSI and Law and Order known to MAN! I'm so excited. We have quite a few Comcast services so it's only $5 more per month. Very worth it for my shows, Saul's "Overhaulin" and the kids "Jacks Big Music Show" and "Wonder Pets". It's a new day at the Lewis house!

Shameless Promotion

Saul tortured me this past weekend spending hours working and leaving me with 3 kids alone. But it was all for a good cause...check out the new Sun Black Box (and tell your friends who have $500K) and admire all of his bEautiful pix - including the one that has his arm in the reflection: https://photos.sun.com/page/1182 .

Ba-Ba-Boots!

Somebody please buy these. I don't think my nobby feet would wear well in these but I'm crazy about these new Stuart Weitzman shoes. I saw them on PerezHilton.com and Nicolette Sheridan was shown wearing a skimpy toga-ish dress with these boots on. The boots looked great, the rest of her looked fug.

A reason to work!

I've told everyone already about my new favorite website - WWW.SEEJANEWORK.COM - but in case I haven't please go immediately! It's fun, fun, fun, and I have redesigned my whole office with their goods. I'm less cluttered at work (not at home sadly) and I sit in my pretty office feeling very good thanks to the gals at See Jane Work.

Knickers Forever

I recently had an itch to buy a nice lingerie set, and headed over to the be-end-all Agent Provocateur. I had a bra fitting - which is a MUST if you've never had one - and found out that I was a 34D (or DD depending on the bra) and NOT a 38C. If you think about it, they can both fit the same, but the larger size will hike up in the back dropping your rack in the front. It was a nice treat, and fun experience. It's all pink and smokey mirrored inside and screams KITTEN WITH A WHIP. They fit you naked in the pretty fitting rooms with thick pink silk seats and curtains, so get ready to whip them out in front of someone you don't know. But it was a great and way too expensive excursion. The service is amazing and you feel special and a bit dirty too:-) So if you have the $$ and inkling go to the AP store near you - dont' go for your first time to the website - or just go get a proper fitting at your local Nordstrom. It's really worth it!

No More Bull!

Saul saw the documentary on Howard Lyman aka the "Mad Cowboy"...a 4th generation cattle rancher turned into a VEGETARIAN!!! He has an amazing story, and if you think about it, the way farm animals are industrialized it's very dangerous for human consumption. Nevermind the fact that it's killing animals - I won't be preachy here. Mad Cow is a very serious threat for meat eaters, and the way that cattle ranchers practices have changed over the years is disgraceful. So take heed, and a moment to check out Howard's site: http://www.madcowboy.com/01_AboutPS.000.html, and let me know if you then need some good links for vegetarian/tofu receipes:-)

F is for Funny

It's been a while since I've posted. I've wanted to and have found many things to post but just lacked motivation. Then I came across this picture and wanted to put it into my blog-o-sphere because it's just too funny. I think it reminds me of my grandparents garage. When I was growing up they had a poster of Richard Nixon calling for his impeachment with his head superimposed on a can of peaches (v. funny). But then my grandparents took it to the next level and hung a toilet seat over his head. Or maybe it reminds me of Will Ferrell from SNL playing bushie. I sure do miss his Prez skits.

Anyway, left or right, I think everyone can appreciate this humor:-)

A deal that's music to your ears

Have you ever used Coinstar? I love it. Most people don't like the 9% fee attached to the service, but to be able to clear out your coin jar (or in my case my Fred Flare "Nest Egg" bank) is priceless. I bravely enter the grocery store and insert my coins into the Coinstar machine and I know people sometimes look at me wondering if I really need money that badly, but they really don't understand how useful the service is. We have 2 Nest Egg banks that fill up with Saul's change very quickly and he lets stray change sit around. I hate the clutter which makes it worth it to go to Coinstar. And historically I've used the $$ toward a really nice bottle of wine at the store.

But recently they've expanded their gift card alliances and I've disposed of my spare change and have gotten gift cards for Amazon.com which are very useful around gift season. Now they have a program with iTunes and you can exchange your change - CENT FOR CENT (ie no % fee for dumping you coins) -for an iTunes card/credit. I think this is very cool. I'm a big believer in digital music (again to help clear our house clutter) so I love to download songs on iTunes. So next time you think about it, gather your spare change, head over to a Coinstar machine and get $$ toward iTunes downloads.

And here are some suggested downloads from my quirky personal collection:

"Faster Kill Pussycat" (Featuring Brittany Murphy) by Paul Oakenfold. Ok yes she's an annoying actress but she's so great in this song!
"Big Time Sensuality" by Bjork
"Judy Staring At The Sun" by Catherine Wheel
"(Rock) Superstar" by Cypress Hill
"Freedom of Choice" by Devo
"I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton. In case you didn't know, Dolly penned and sang the original version of Whitney Houston's mega hit from the movie "The Bodyguard"
"You Are My Sunshine" by Ike and Tina Turner
"Jesus Walks" by Kanye West
"Dream a Little Dream" by Mama Cass
"Here Comes The Sun" by Nina Simone
"Thank You" by Duran Duran
"Hypnotize" by The Notorious B.I.G.
"Baba O'Riley" by Pearl Jam. I had no idea that this song (originally done by The Who and used on CSI: NY) is really called "Baba O'Riley".
"Here Comes Your Man" by The Pixies
"The "In Crowd" by The Ramsey Lewis Trio
"You Are My Sunshine" by Ricky Nelson (I love looking for versions of this song since it's my special song w/Miles)
"Hit" by the Sugarcubes
"Seether" by Veruca Salt
"Hikky-Burr" by Bill Cosby & Quincy Jones

Call me ugly

I totally splurged and bought a pair of MBT shoes - you know the hideous curved shoes that we've all seen in the Bliss catalog? My boss suggested them for my hips because in her opinion if you look at the technology of the MBT's it totally makes sense. So I did my homework and if what I read is true, they really do make sense and will help with my hips, posture and HOPEFULLY (I'm crossing everything I can) with chub and cellulite. Surprisingly they are very light and extremely comfy and they're very easy to walk in. A few people I've told about my indulgence have asked for updates on whether or not they're doing their job, so I will definitley do that. I bought the plain white leather pair, although I'm posting the very cute ones w/orange.

So while they are ugly and hard to wear with most of my clothes without looking totally orthopedic, so far I have to give them a BIG thumbs up. They really do help with posture (it's hard to slouch when you don't really have a heel), and I can feel it alot in my calves and somewhat in my thighs. Admittedly I haven't been wearing them all day and I've only taken 2 big walks so far, but I do feel it a bit and I'm hoping I can motivate myself out for a daily walk. I'll keep you posted, but if you've ever even considered these my suggestion is to actually make the purchase, you'll be glad you did.

Go Simon!

Who cares if he has man boobs? Everybody's love to hate judge Simon Cowell comes out against wearing fur. He gets my vote and my old bras! http://www.furisdead.com/feat-simoncowell.asp

OK, she who-must-not-be-named...please share with Mr. Cowell this post upon his return from the UK:-)

Faux is the way to go

Happy Monday! Today Mandy here in the Entrepreneur offices is wearing the MOST adorable wedge shoes , so I had to look them up and post them. And being the good veggie that she is they are also VEGAN!! Woo hoo, hail all veggies! I know that I've done my more-than-fair-share of wearing animals over the years, but where I can I like to do what I can about wearing non-animal products. So as I was looking up the shoes I found them at a very cool animal-less site www.alternativeoutfitters.com. And as I was perusing the site I found this adorable yellow VEGAN bag. Check out the shoes and the bags and do your part if you can!

UPDATE: I ordered and received the bag...I love it! It's some of the best $57 I have ever spent!

Also on my quest to find the shoes online I found a very cute website that had adorable CHEAP clothes that might not be the best quality, but it's so fun to mix cute clothes with nicer pieces that I know you'll find something you'll just have to buy at this site...www.lulusfashionlounge.com.

Summer Swirl

Love this skirt from Penguin at www.revolveclothing.com. Cute from summer w/flip flops or tennies.

I might Wedge this in...

Another winner from our friends at Daily Candy. Perfection. Our friend Kristin (Alex's girlfriend from our wedding if you can remember) had on an adorable pair at our house last week that were very similar to this.

Something to Lift Your Day

OK Revolve Clothing FINALLY has the Butt-Lifter jeans back in. And I just placed my order. I only hope that they not only lift my booty but that they also don't look terrible with my new post-3-babies mid section tire pouring over the sides. Two day shipping, two days until my butt will possibly be lifted. Stay tuned and watch out in the skies for my lifted booty!

UPDATE: Ok they arrrived and I love them. But they seem to run big (they must because I have not lost ANY lbs), so I ordered a size smaller. I can't fully remark on their "power" until I see them on me with the right fit. But I could tell even with the larger size that they will work out. Stay tuned...

Deals and Steals?!

I have a couple of new sites/stores to share. First is a site that I found because Kim sent me the Woo Woo site (adorable clothes by the way) and they carry it at Doe in SF. Cute things, kinda funky, pretty affordable, but in the Haight (bad parking and icky wannabe hippies). But might be worth the drive and the hassle. They have a website http://www.doe-sf.com/index.html http://www.doe-sf.com/index.html, and you can order online.

Another odd site I found, which may require a test purchase, is LaRedoute. It might be another Zara or H&M type of retailer. They are a european import site and their clothes are mostly cute and some are very Euro. But they have some very cute things and they are CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. So does this mean it's a great find or that you'd order something cute and it wouldn't have lining and would be see-through or scratchy? Not sure, but my stuff from Zara is still cute and wearable even if it's not the highest quality. I think that LaRedoute might be very similar. But before I order I need to figure out my size, which is always a challenge with Euro sizes and adding to it the fact that it's an online order makes my lack motivation to do the test purchase. Stay tuned and in the meantime check out the site and go deep to find stuff, it's not always on the first page of the section: http://www.us.redoute.com/laredoute/layout/layout.asp?

Should I or Shouldn't I?

These shorts are way too expensive BUT I can't find anything comperable that's cheaper. There's a similar pair (for a fraction of the cost) at J.Crew but they look thicker. These look really good on (saw them on E!) but just not sure about the $125 for shorts!

OK, per Kim's request the dark brown shorts are the J.Crew shorts and the ones on the skinny tan model (the beige shorts) are the James Perse shorts.

I might have made a big concession overall because I found similar shorts from Mossimo at Target for $14. The pockets on them actually help make the butt look smaller. But I'm sure I'd swoon if I had the James Perse shorts...

Show Us Your Man Boobs!

OK, my really good friend who is very in the know about certain Hollywood types, recently told me that she's friends with Simon Cowell...who she said is very nice and not like the Simon you see on TV. OK, I might buy that. I asked her if he really had man boobs, which made her laugh, but not deny. Now she tells me that his man boobs are well, manly and that they look good. In fact, very good in a sweater. Good to know...what do you think? I'm willing to give him a chance based on her assessment of him being a nice person. But does he or doesn't he need to wear a "bro"?

A Funny A Day Keeps the Mad As A Hatter's Away!

OK, PerezHilton makes each day just a bit better. I always seem to laugh outloud when I visit. This picture is part of a number of pix that they've photoshopped Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and Donatella Versace into. This one in particular, Whacks of Life, also includes Perez and Kevin Federline (whom they affectionally call K-Fag). You've got to check out the site if you've never been before! It's almost a set-as-a-homepage worthy site!!! www.perezhilton.com.

Summer Is Here!!!

Summer doesn't kick off for me on 6/21, it kicks off as of Memorial Day Weekend. Summer is here, it's warm, and clothes are abundant for the season. I only wish that I burned more calories moving last week and that I could fit into my 2 boxes of sizes 4 & 6 that now sits in my garage. Oh the money in cute clothes that sits in those boxes. Clothes from my single days when $$ were in abudance to indulge and time was in abudance for me to hit the gym 4-6 days a week, and before 3 babies were housed in my belly. Those were the days... But I can still dream of cute shirts like this with my cute pants that sit in the box, or I can think about finding the right pair of new shorts/capris to wear with this. Kim INSISTS that someone buy this so she can live vicariously through them. But I still think that Kim CAN buy it and just button the top few buttons and let the rest drape over the sides of her belly that houses little baby Jones who is busy cooking away in there:-) It is a really adorable shirt, and maybe I can have people donate $$ for the babies upcoming birthday's into a J.Crew Gift Card that mom can use since the babies don't need anything...I'm so horrible!!!!

If anyone chooses to buy this, here is the URL: http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod75927571&catId=cat104087
and please let Kim know how you like it!

That's 63 To You & Me

Well it's almost Daisy's 9th birthday...time passes quickly. She was just a sickly little 11 week old pup in the palm of our hand. Now all 80 lbs of hers is sweeter than ever and we love her so much. I'm ordring a b-day cake for her from Great Dog Bakery that used to have a retail space in Portland, OR. Now he just does wholesale and internet orders from a commercial bakery space. Chef Daryl used to be an actual chef and has applied his people cooking training to animals, and he's inspired by his faithful Cosmo. www.greatdogbakery.com

Check out Daisy's page on Dogster: http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=26534&j=t&t=t

Support Your Friends!

My old roomie Lisa has a new jewelry business, so of course I need to mention it to any would-be shoppers out there. Cute stuff and affordable. I like the wood hoop earrings and coral flower necklace that I've included. The site is www.jadedandstoned.com.

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is nearly here and I wanted to devote a post to my Mom and all of the Mom's out there (except Madonna who admits she's a crappy Mother, so she doesn't deserve a shout out). Now that I'm a Mom I admire mine so much more, I can't believe all of the sacrifices she made for me (and even for crappy me when I was a little brat). It's amazing what personal sacrifices you make as a Mom - your body, your mind, your marriage and life in general. Of course it's worth it, but to think that so many women do it is amazing. I know someone here at work who told me that on the way home from the aquarium with her 2 kids she fell asleep in the car at a stop signal. I felt so bad for her (it could have been me or any of the other Mom's of young children that I know) especially because we were just talking about sleep deprivation and all that we do for our kids and how we still feel it isn't enough or just isn't good enough. Yes it's scarry, but she deserved that minute of sleep at that signal...she's making unbelievable sacrifices every day. I also know a couple people who are preggers and who are working so hard to make those babies in their bellies. It's hard work...but the hardest is yet to come:-). If Labor Day wasn't already taken, I'd start a revolution to rename Mother's Day because it's always about labor, labor, labor...especially a labor of love.

Anyway, whether you're a Mom, have a Mom, or know a Mom. Be sure to let them know that they're awesome on Mother's Day. And perhaps sometime in my lifetime they'll realize what a tribute Mother's Day really is to all the Mom's out there and move Mother's Day to a Monday and make it a National holiday. It would be well deserved...and even better if the day came with an hour of babysitting!

MAD AS A HATTER!

Yesterday Kim passed along a good label for a client of hers, that I absolutely LOVE. ..."Mad as a Hatter"...and it even has history behind the saying: http://www.hgtech.com/Information/Mad%20Hatter.htm. Brilliant, and is a good way of describing my officemates lately. I'm sure everyone use the saying so I wanted to pass it along.

I'm happy to say that the sun is STILL shining in San Francisco. It's about time. I've been opening my sunroof so that I can try to refresh my roots. I also saw something on either E! News or the Daily 10 about putting lemon juice into your shampoo to help with highlights if you don't want to re-do yours. I'm very skeptical of lemon on my hair because I don't want orange hair, but the advice was given by some "celebrity" hair stylist that looked Mad as a Hatter - which usually means they're great. Anyhoo, if I try it I'll let you know.

MySpace Ponderings

My busy hus-b Saul has created a family website. Miles link is the best, it's fun to see some of his interests up that we can share with people.

http://web.mac.com/soulmango/iWeb/Site/Lewis%20Welcome.html

I'm also thinking about moving my Blog to MySpace.com. Everyone seems to have a MySpace acct and you can blog there. But I'm a bit wary of the freaks. It seems a bit too open even for an old chick like me. Who has a MySpace acct and can share info? Would love to know...

GO SLUGGER!!!!!

I DO support Barry Bonds. Go Barry!!! I don't think he did steroids, nor do I care if he did. Barry is an American Hero, and these days we are sorely lacking any American Heroes or anything that we can look forward to. The US is a mess, there are bat-shit crazy stars like Tom Cruise spreading Voodoo cults like Scientology and people are just plain crazy. Kids and adults love and look up to Barry, and he is achieving a once in a lifetime dream, so I wish everyone would set aside this steroid crap and let Barry enjoy the moment.

No, I'm not necessarily a Giants fan. I'm from LA and my hometeam will always be the Dodgers. I've only been to 2 Giants games in the past 12 years and I can't remember who was playing. I'm also admittedly a fair weathered sports fan, I watch at the playoffs or when big events happen. So right now, I'm happy for Barry and I hope Shaq and his team make it to (and win) the final NBA Championships.

Ingulgences?

Have you heard the Gnarles Barkley song "Crazy". It's so great. Saul turned me on to DJ Dangermouse from the Jay-Z Black Grey Album where DJ Dangermouse mixed in Jay-Z's The Black album with the Beatles White Album, it was very good actually.

Marlo Williams of Blue Cult got back to me about the new "Butt Lifter" jeans and let me know that they are now available at www.Revolveclothing.com. They only go up to 31 from what I can tell, but they are supposedly miracle jeans. I might have to invest. I saw them on Access Hollywood and I was hooked so I asked Blue Cult when they'd be available and I just got the good news they're in.

So Kim said I should post something about what we first indulged in when we had our first "real job" and were making "real money". I have many stories here, but I'll say that my jobs were never for setting the stage for a career they were only tools for me to shop and buy things. My first job at TV Guide was for a car payment. And when I worked at Mirabella I was surrounded by beautiful things and exposed to a new world of fashion, etc. that I got a second job just to afford shopping at the Sunset Plaza and Boulmiche. But alas I was so naive that the leather jackets with the shoulder pads and the cowboy boots with the gold and silver mesh were too "of the moment" and did not last me for too long. I also wanted to apply for a new credit card just to afford and buy a Claude Montana suit. I realized that was dumb and never ended up doing it, but I was VERY close. It too would have been too trendy (and a bit too severe/germanic looking actually), but I was caught up in learning about designers and fashion. Now I'm happy to have a few good pieces with Isaac Mizrahi at Target thrown in:-) Does anyone want to share their indulgences when they first had some moolah?

Sophie Bea...future Hemline blogger.

MMMmore Links

OK, shopping, goodies, food, etc. - Exactly what I started this blog for. Here's some links for the day that I'm anxious to share:-)

Those people at Hovey Lee are sending me e-mails that I can't help myself from opening. Hovey Lee now has a few baby items...and as usual great jewelery at a good price: www.hoveylee.com

While waiting for my car to get detailed this a.m. I found myself at www.flaxart.com to get some fun supplies for Miles and to look for pink office supplies:-) I also ventured next door to the French cafe and got a great salad bar mix and Bitter Sweet Chocolate Bubble Wrap with Cocoa nibs. Needless to say, it is the best chocolate I've EVER had and it makes a good moving gift! http://www.delessiomarket.com/Home%20page.htm

I also spent time at www.fredflare.com getting some gifts for Father's Day.

spring-y shoes, cruel jeans, music to my ears and out of sync...

I've been a bit busy and haven't been able to post, and I've got to make it quick. OK, I have not been diligent about the SoCal Cleanse. I really need to focus and take it to see how/if it works. Stay tuned...

Quick thoughts I need to express, that have been on my mind.

- I'm misss grunge.
- Skinny Jeans are CRUEL are clearly not made for "regular folk".
- Sunshine makes the Bay Area a better place.
- I really am surprised that Lance Bass is gay. I really wouldn't have guessed. Good for him, but I'm still shocked!
- I have become a J.Crew girl. I would have never guessed, but I'm addicted. They have a new head designer, and she's clearly doing a great job. I'm wearing these today in Dark Gold and I feel good: http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod74021591&catId=cat102176

Hello, Goodbye, and What the F?

Well it's been 2 years and 2 more babies since I started this blog, and I'm just now revisiting. I tried to find it recently but couldn't. I only found it becasue I was visiting my friend Jen's blog and in order to post a comment to her blog I need to sign in...so I used my regular user name and password and lo and behold I found my blog. Hemline...I wanted a blog so that I could alleviate all of the e-mails that I send out to girlfriends that get passed along, that everyone replies to, about fashion, life, beauty and other meaningful nothings that are fun for us. So I have even less time for a Blog, but what the hell, maybe just maybe I can keep it up a bit more. We'll see, no promises.

Sadly, I looked at the only posting I've made to the Blog and there were "spam" postings/replies from some financial person/thing and someone asking me if I want to see their porn. No thanks to both, I have no money to buy stocks and as for porn I'd rather spend my time online trying to see what other people are saying about whether or not Katie Holmes is really preggers.

Come on, that bump on her belly is so FAKE. Who is that big and shaped like that in their 9th month who also wears ZIP UP PANTS????!!! I know 20 week pregger friends who are wearing the band maternity pants and they are barely showing. At 9 months I can't see how Katie Holmes has a round belly that has pants zipped up perfectly underneath. Shouldn't her belly be like the rest of ours when pregnant??? At a 45 degree angle down to the pelvic area? Check this out, and let me know what you think: http://trent.blogspot.com/2006/04/hoopz.html

Now on to other things...I will restart my SoCal cleanse pills tomorrow. I took them for one day then my Shingles showed up and I thought I was dying. So now that I know a) I have Shingles that hopefully won't kill me, and b) I do have a Laberal tear in my hip and nothing will make it worse, I have no more lingering concerns about my health that would cause the SoCal Cleanse pills to interfere. Maybe they'll give me a head start to losing my baby weight from Miles and the twins. Even now that I've been non-pregnant for 8 months I look more pregnant than Katie Holmes! I hope to soon open "the box" of old clothes that I miss and covet because they are cute and were expensive:-)
