I'm happy to say that I've finally discovered how to have my hair cut.
The Dry Cut. I've spent years and years trying to perfect the dialogue between me and my (many) hair stylists. There's been a lot of "just cut a little bit", and can you have it "frame my face" and too many "layers but not
too many layers" discussions. And every time I get my hair washed then cut then dried. It's (most of the time) come out OK and looks good but then once I try to style it, it takes a couple days to get used to the new cut. I finally went in to Diane, who's been cutting and coloring my hair since we came back to CA, with my freshly washed and styled-my-way head of hair. I said can you trim my hair dry keeping this style? Less than 20 minutes later we were done and it looked great. I tried the technique again and it worked again. I'm so happy to say that this is the best way to get your hair cut/trimmed unless you want a new style. The only part that I don't like is that I haven't gotten my hair washed (which includes a nice head massage) and styled and she still charges me the same price as a regular cut. Next time I'm going to ask for the dry cut and the wash/dry, and then it will be (cough cough) shear heaven:-)
