So Plastic

I posted about Plasticland previously but I had the site bookmarked on my old work computer and even though I posted to del.icio.us, I for some reason couldn't find the site:-( TECHNOLOGY! Anyway I found the site again because I searched for red satin ballet flats to go with the dress posted below that I can't buy now because of the URL issue they are having with a competitor:-( TECHNOLOGY! Anyway I ordered the swiss dot top featured in the outfit of the week, along with some other goodies (shoes, tank, tights, etc). So needless to say I'm glad I discovered the site again and I will not only no longer forget about it, but I'll try to oranize my del.icio.us site so that I can actaully use it:-) I did not buy these shoes, but I thought hard about it. I have a really cute Navy satin top with 3/4 sleeves gathered at the elbow that would look so cute with these, but I just didn't pull the trigger on them. But I like them alot so I thought I'd post them.

So Hillarious
This is so funny. Who doesn't love Will Ferrell. Little Pearl is his writing partner's daughter and she is REALLY good in this. I think that I find it especially funny because I can imagine Saul and I doing something like this with our kids, just for our own twisted amusement:-)

Channel Your Inner Dita

I found this really cute site recently while searching for a choker necklace to go with a new dress I got. I Googled "Burlesque Jewelry Choker" and at some point found this site. I looked through it and found some really cute, girly and va-va-voom items. I loved this dress in particular and just found a pair of red satin espadrille heels to go with it. I haven't made the purchase yet but I think I will this weekend. There is a model on this site that is so Bettie Paige. You can't help but channel your inner Pin Up Girl or Dita Von Teese while browsing this site. http://www.babygirlboutique.com/index.html

It's only taken 39 years!

I'm happy to say that I've finally discovered how to have my hair cut. The Dry Cut. I've spent years and years trying to perfect the dialogue between me and my (many) hair stylists. There's been a lot of "just cut a little bit", and can you have it "frame my face" and too many "layers but not too many layers" discussions. And every time I get my hair washed then cut then dried. It's (most of the time) come out OK and looks good but then once I try to style it, it takes a couple days to get used to the new cut. I finally went in to Diane, who's been cutting and coloring my hair since we came back to CA, with my freshly washed and styled-my-way head of hair. I said can you trim my hair dry keeping this style? Less than 20 minutes later we were done and it looked great. I tried the technique again and it worked again. I'm so happy to say that this is the best way to get your hair cut/trimmed unless you want a new style. The only part that I don't like is that I haven't gotten my hair washed (which includes a nice head massage) and styled and she still charges me the same price as a regular cut. Next time I'm going to ask for the dry cut and the wash/dry, and then it will be (cough cough) shear heaven:-)
Perfect for Summer

Always a bit behind, I find things for the current "season" as they are already out. I'll unfortunately never be fashion-forward enough to spy and buy the season as it hits. But nevertheless I've spied a great bag for Spring/Summer. And being the animal-responsible person that I am it is vegan! I'm till trying to buy as few animal items as possible but some leather bags/shoes are too good to resist. But not in this case...the great people at Chinese Laundry have another hit on thier hands with this metallic bag. I found it at one of my favorite sites alternativeoutfitters.com. It's a no-animal-harmed bargain at $42 and it can be worn long or shorter. I think I might have to make a purchase here because I have no metallic bags in my collection!

Happy New Year - What Is Your Path?

Ah, so long since my last post. And since then I've found so many cool shopping things to post. But alas they will sit in my bookmarks for now in fear of overloading Hemline with pix.
Anyway, my advice for 2007 is this. Look at the big picture. Where do you want to be? Do you see the roads ahead of you? How can all roads lead you to your path? Take this advice and find the resources and $$ to get you there. Where may you ask to my roads lead? To my dream Eichler home in Marin. Yes Marin. No I don't want to live there, but yes they have better schools for my kids. I see the paths ahead of me and I'm looking for all roads to take me there. Happy New Year!

I get lifted!

I've seen similar shoes on the blogs, but these are cute and affordable. Cute with skinny jeans (yes I bought my first pair reluctantly...at least they are Levi's) or a mini-ish skirt and tights (yes tights are in again). I have these in my Favorites in Zappos where I've cleverly given my husband the password. Let's hope he smells the hint and plays Santa pour moi!
Red HOT!

A little bit of Red...Colors are so much fun right now. Kim concurs that Yellow is Spring's must have color. Red is NOW and very winter. This is a very fun coat from a new cost-concious site called http://www.plasticlandclothing.com/.
Our lives have changed forever!
We just got DVR from Comcast. Now I can watch all of my missing shows like Ugly Betty, The Office, My Name Is Early, and very CSI and Law and Order known to MAN! I'm so excited. We have quite a few Comcast services so it's only $5 more per month. Very worth it for my shows, Saul's "Overhaulin" and the kids "Jacks Big Music Show" and "Wonder Pets". It's a new day at the Lewis house!
